Doctor of Philosophy in Public Health
Program Aim
TAU College of Ph.D. in Public Health program aims to provide advanced training and education to individuals who wish to become experts in the field of public health research, policy, and practice. The program is designed for individuals who have a strong background in public health or a related field and who aspire to make significant contributions to the field through research, teaching, and leadership roles.
The program aims
- To foster a rigorous research environment where students can develop advanced research skills and contribute to the body of knowledge in public health. Students are typically expected to conduct original research and produce a doctoral dissertation that makes a substantial contribution to the field.
- To develop students’ critical thinking and problem-solving skills, equipping them with the ability to analyze complex public health issues, evaluate evidence, and develop innovative solutions. This involves training in research methodologies, data analysis, and interpretation, as well as exposure to multidisciplinary approaches to public health problems.
- To prepare students for teaching and leadership positions in academia, research institutions, government agencies, non-profit organizations, and other public health settings. This includes opportunities for teaching assistantships, mentorship from faculty, and the development of effective communication and leadership skills.The College of Public Health (CoPH) thus provides opportunities for such training, as well as for research and public health practice.

- Master the analytical and methodological skills required to evaluate and conduct research in their area of specialization and related areas.
- Design and conduct original research in their area of specialization.
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate the results of their research in a clear and effective manner.
- Demonstrate an ability to work effectively with other people from various ethnic, educational, and work experience backgrounds.
- Demonstrate an understanding and concern for the high ethical standards in business research, teaching, and service.
- Demonstrate the ability to teach college-level courses in their area of specialization.

The program learning outcomes (PLOs) set out the academic learning, skills, and achievements that the student must reliably demonstrate before graduation.
Upon successful completion of the doctoral program, the graduating students shall demonstrate:
- Graduates will demonstrate a detailed knowledge of their areas of specialization.
- Graduates will master the analytical/methodological skills needed to evaluate and conduct research in their areas of specialization.
- Graduates will demonstrate their ability to design and conduct original research in their chosen fields of specialization.
- Graduates will be able to teach college-level courses in their areas of specialization.
- Graduates will be able to communicate the results of their research in a clear and effective manner.
- Ability to use library and internet resources in researching an Public health problem and presenting their conclusions in a written and an oral report.
