Admissions Requirement

Premed Program

  • A Pass in Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) Ordinary Levels (General Proficiency Grades I-III), GCE O’Levels/ BGCSE (Grades A-C) are required in mathematics, physics (or other science subjects), biology, chemistry, English, and any other elective subject.
    OR
  • A matriculation examination such as the South African examination (or the equivalent) with strong science grades, should have mathematics, physics (or other science subjects), biology, chemistry, English, and any other elective subject.
    OR
  • WAEC/NECO must possess Five O’ Level Credit Passes in English, Maths, Physics (or other science subjects), Chemistry, and Biology
    OR
  • U.S. high school diploma (or the equivalent) with a strong GPA (3.0 and above) in science; SAT scores with mathematics, physics (or other science subjects), biology, chemistry, English, and any other elective subject.
    OR
  • Any other secondary school examination or system which is equivalent to 12 years (Indian Board examination of education); with an aggregate percentage of at least 50% or above in physics, biology, chemistry, and pass in mathematics, English, and any other elective subject.

5 Year MD Program

  • 3 Advanced Levels: in Chemistry, Biology, and either Math or Physics
  • CAPE Units 1 and 2: Biology, Chemistry, and either Physics or Math.
  • Full IB Diploma with strong grades. 2HL required.
  • 10 + 2 for India and Nepal

4 Year MD Program

Applicants are expected to clear Texila Medical Admissions Test (TMAT) and Multiple Mini Interviews (MMI) to be considered for admissions in addition to the minimum of 90 college-level credits or equivalent education with the following required courses

  • One year of Inorganic or General Chemistry (with labs)
  • One year of Organic Chemistry (with labs)
  • One year of General Biology (with labs)
  • One year of Physics (with labs)
  • One year of English
  • Pre-Calculus/Calculus or Statistics

*Students who have successfully completed advanced science courses such as Anatomy & Physiology, Biochemistry, and Genetics will be given preference.

TMAT (Texila Medical Admission Test)

Texila Medical Admission Test (TMAT): TMAT is an MCQ based examination consisting of two hundred basic science questions including basic concepts of Human Anatomy 25%, basic concepts of Physiology 25%, basic concepts of Biochemistry 25%, Medical Terminology 10%, Psychology 5%, fundamental Organic Chemistry 5%, and basic Biology 5%. The required pass percentage for acceptance of the applicant is a 70% score in TMAT. The time duration for TMAT is four hours.

Multiple Mini Interviews

MMI interviews consist of five short practical assessments, usually 10 minutes each, which are conducted by the faculty members known as ‘Admission Interviewers’, who are appointed by the Admissions Committee. Applicants will be presented with a scenario before each mini-interview, so the applicant will have sufficient time to prepare an answer. Seventy percent is the required pass percentage for acceptance of the applicant in MMI. MMI is conducted to assess the applicants based on the following parameters:

  1. Ethical Decision Making
  2. Critical Thinking
  3. Reasoning
  4. Psychological ability
  5. Communication Skills

Bachelor's Programs

  • “O” Level with a minimum of five (5) subjects or CSEC General Proficiency (minimum Grade III) Subjects must include English Language and Mathematics.
    OR
  • Advanced High School Diploma in Matriculation Studies (EduQual Level 3)
    OR
  • General Educational Development certificate (GED).”

Master’s Program

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a relevant specialty from a Recognized University.
    OR
  • Qualification from any recognized body with a level equivalent to a bachelor’s qualification. Qualifications will be evaluated by the admissions committee.

Students with alternate qualifications with relevant work experience will be considered for admission. Please contact the admission office for specific requirements for students with alternate qualifications or experiential learning credits.

PhD Programs

  • Master’s degree in a relevant stream from a Recognized University”
