As you embark on your journey toward enrollment and your exciting adventure in Guyana, we are dedicated to making this process as seamless as possible for you. Here’s some important information you’ll want to take note of:

Pre-Enrollment Timeline

Before your departure to Guyana, there are several essential tasks you must complete to confirm your enrollment and ensure you’re fully prepared for your TAUCOM program. Please follow these steps by the recommended timelines:

Seat Deposit

To secure your place at TAUCOM, please remit a non-refundable seat deposit along with the admissions acceptance form and an enrollment agreement. This deposit is vital, as it reserves your spot in classes, and spaces fill up rapidly.

Travel Arrangements

For students entering semesters 1–5, please book a return flight and provide proof of your round-trip itinerary to the Admissions Officer for visa processing purposes. The Guyana airport code is GEO, and it is served by major airlines from various locations, including New York and Miami.

Uniform

Ensure to bring a minimum of 3 sets of uniforms. Uniforms must be worn by all the students which are a dark blue scrubs top with black or dark bottoms or slacks. Females may wear black or dark-colored skirts.

Passport

Ensure you have a valid passport for travel and your entire stay in Guyana. Passport issuance or renewal should be initiated at least six weeks before your departure date. Check your local passport regulations and processing times to ensure timely issuance.

Medical Examination Form

Students are required to submit the health form completed by a physician. The following immunizations are required prior to matriculation: rubeola, rubella, mumps, varicella, and polio. Students must have had a tetanus vaccination within the last 10 years. In addition, the series of vaccinations for Hepatitis B must be completed before the start of clinical rotations.

Arrival in Guyana and Student Visa

Upon landing in Guyana, proceed through Immigration. You must present the following documents to enter the country:

  • A copy of your TAUCOM acceptance letter
  • Confirmation of your return flight
  • A passport valid for your entire stay in Guyana

A student visa is required to stay legally in Guyana for over 30 days. TAUCOM will assist you as an agent with the government to facilitate this process. To ensure the issuance of your student visa by the Government of Guyana, gather the necessary documents and information and submit them no later than 30 days before Orientation begins. It’s advisable to keep copies of all submitted documents with you when you travel.

You will be received by a Texila representative who will take you to the accommodation. For nationalities where a visa is issued on arrival can travel with the visa on arrival policy and the TAU office will process the student visa upon arrival. For all other nationals, visa will need to be processed in advance from the home country.

Please ensure to submit all the student visa documents 30 day before your travel date to your designated admissions team member.

Student Housing

All student housing is located off-campus and offers various options around the campus. Whether you prefer apartments, houses, hotels, or dorm-like facilities, there is housing to suit your needs. Apartments come fully furnished, so you only need to bring bedding, towels, personal items, and clothing. Groceries are easily accessible at local stores.

Our University Housing Department is here to assist you in finding suitable accommodation. They maintain a database of housing options to fit every budget and requirement. They will be in contact with you to provide housing choices and assistance.

Official Vs Notarized Documents

As part of the admissions process, you must submit official transcripts. These transcripts should be sent directly from the awarding institutions to TAU. In regions where institutions do not issue official transcripts, notarized copies may be accepted. However, students will be required to provide the original transcript or certificate to the Office of the Registrar for verification upon arrival in Guyana.

  • Confirmation of tuition payment

Please ensure to review the student’s handbook from the website prior to signing the enrollment agreement. The handbook contains all policies that will guide your life at TAU.
