Texila American University has received Accreditation from the Caribbean Accreditation Authority for Education in Medicine and Other Health Professions (CAAM-HP) for a period of three (3) years. The accreditation applies to the MD program offered by the University.
Established in 2003 under the aegis of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), CAAM-HP is a legally constituted body that is empowered to determine and prescribe standards and to accredit programs of medical, dental, veterinary, and other health professions education on behalf of the contracting parties in CARICOM and is recognized by the World Federation for Medical Education/Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (WFME/FAIMER).
The accreditation system used by the CAAM-HP is based on that of the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME). This system functions with a clear, authoritative mandate, operates independently of governments and institutions, uses preset standards, draws on external reviewers, and involves self-evaluation and site visits.
