The world is gently moving from being affected by COVID-19 to fighting against it with the help of vaccines. As of June 3rd, 2021, 851,956,509 people have received their 1st dose, and 437,376,264 people have received their 2nd dose worldwide. In Guyana, 187,234 people have received their first dose, and 58,380 people have received their 2nd dose.
Texila American University (TAU) has always strived towards the betterment of society and has conducted a vaccination drive earlier this year.
TAU hosted its second “COVID-19 Vaccination Drive” with the Ministry of Health on its Guyana campus on May 24th, 2021. Anyone that is 18 or higher of age was permitted, and health care workers were first in priority. The staff and medical students of TAU took part and facilitated the vaccination drive.
Almost 250 individuals got vaccinated in a single day. Some of them were first-time recipients, while most of them were getting their second dose.
Right now, vaccines are our only hope against this dreadful disease. Make sure you and your family get yourselves vaccinated. Even after complete vaccination, you will have to wear a mask, follow social distancing norms and other guidelines to avoid the spread of the disease.
