Five Graduates were named recipients of the most prestigious annual graduate awards, administered by the Texila American University. The awards recognize and celebrate graduates who are excelling in research and service, as well as other academic pursuits.
The Awards and Recipients distributed include:
- Chancellor’s Award for Best Outgoing Student College of Medicine
This award is conferred on the graduating student having the highest CGPA among all MD graduating students. The graduate should not have failed in any course/clerkship (from MD1 to MD8) or take any deferral during the MD program. Lastly, the student should not have been involved in any sort of malpractice or misconduct and have a minimum of 80% attendance in all semesters (MD1 to MD8).
Dr. Fareeda Bacchus
- Dean’s Award
This award is conferred on the graduating student with a CGPA of 2.5 and above (Highest CGPA graduate given preference). Additionally, the Student’s List of research articles presented at the conference and published in peer-reviewed journals, Involvement in community outreach programs, and the Best essay on community problems and solutions were areas assessed in order to be awarded.
Dr. Jessica Dasari
- Best Clinical Student Award
This award is conferred on the graduating student who has the highest CGPA in the clinical science program among all MD graduating students. The student should also not have failed in any clerkship (from MD5 to MD8 & Clinical Science Exit Exam) or be involved in any sort of malpractice or misconduct. Lastly, students must have a minimum of 80% attendance in all semesters (MD1 to MD8).
Dr. Fareeda Bacchus
- Best Basic Science Student Award
This award is conferred on the graduating student who has the highest CGPA in the Basic science program among all recently completed Basic Science students. The student should also not have failed in any course (from MD1 to MD4 & Basic Science Exit Exam) or be involved in any sort of malpractice or misconduct. Lastly, student must have had a minimum of 80% attendance in all semesters (MD1 to MD8). However, for this April 2023 Graduation Ceremony, the award was given to a non-graduating student who would have just completed the Basic Science courses.
Dr. Adonesse Mavia Francis
- Chancellor’s Award for Best Outgoing Student Other Colleges
This award is conferred on the graduating student having the highest CGPA from any other program offered at TAU apart from the College of Medicine. This year it was awarded to one of two graduating students from the Business Management Program.
