Texila American University (TAU) is proud to say that we have created many doctors who strive to make this world a better place. Dr. Evannie Edwards is one such graduate. Dr. Edwards is a Jamaican by birth and left Jamaica for Guyana. She joined Texila American University in 2016 with the dream of becoming a physician.
In her own words, “On the 14th of September 2016, I embarked on a journey that I will never forget or regret. I left Jamaica, my home country, for the beautiful land of Guyana. 5 years later, here I am. I have achieved my dream of becoming a medical doctor.”
I am grateful to God and Texila American University, says Dr. Edwards.
While talking about her journey to becoming a doctor, she emphasized the importance of perseverance. She says that nothing good ever comes easy and that the journey to becoming a doctor has been a tough one. She also mentioned that although there were difficulties, it was worth it all. “I would do it all over again,” says the doctor.
Here is what she had to convey about her favorite attributes of TAU. “The classrooms were clean, spacious, and air-conditioned, the laboratories were well-equipped, the lecturers were well-learned, and the meals at the cafeteria were simply tantalizing. Texila is the ultimate experience.”
Dr. Edwards also mentioned that her clinical rotations were a wonderful experience. Also, she said, “I garnered many skills that I will be sure to take with me throughout my career.”
These are her words to anyone contemplating a medicine program at Texila, “just start; you won’t regret it in the end. Take it from me.”
