As every medical aspirant, I dreamed of studying and practicing medicine in the USA. While completing my school education, I had no idea how I could make my dream come true.
When I got a medical seat at Texila American University (TAU) in Guyana, I wondered how this medical school in a Caribbean country could help me achieve my dream of practicing in the USA, the world’s biggest economy.
But, TAU, Guyana, had surprised me with an option to take up my clinical rotation in the USA. When I heard that, I felt like I had attained my goal even before starting my MD (Doctor of Medicine) course.
I am Dr. Mohammad Ali Mansour. I had completed my MD program from Texila American University, Guyana, and pursued my clinical rotations in Chicago, USA, in early 2015, that was an excellent and unforgettable experience.
Practicing medicine in the USA is not an easy dream to catch. I was ready to chase my passion. All I needed was a proper track, a little guidance, and extensive training. My MD program at TAU was a complete package that came with a medical degree, clinical rotation in the USA, and an in-built USMLE training.
During my 5th semester, I learned how to apply concepts learned during basic sciences to clinical practice. Thanks to every class, professor, and classmate, who contributed to my rich education. All the professors and preceptors were well-experienced, friendly, and approachable.
After college days, I was sent to one of the best teaching hospitals in Chicago to take up my clinical rotations, where I learned family medicine practice for experienced preceptors.
I started preparing for USMLE Step 1 alongside, and all the professors were very helpful in guiding me for the exam. The curriculum for Basic Sciences was challenging, but I could learn it with ease as a student with clinical rotation experience, the introduction to Clinical Medicine, which was part of our curriculum, helped me learn the fundamentals of the clinical practice.
It is possible to excel in USMLE Step 1 and Clinical Sciences by putting in the effort and dedicating your time toward your studies. The guidance of TAU’s support services in the USA helped me in planning my clinical rotations well in advance. Managing time for clinical rotations and USMLE preparation is very important, which I think is one of the most valuable aspects for any medical student in the USA.
The students, administration, faculty, and student support services of TAU were more than happy to help me in achieving my milestones.
I am currently in Chicago, a licensed physician in the United States, and have my place among the best doctors who came from all over the world to become American Board certified.
