Georgetown, Guyana | April 10, 2026 — Texila American University College of Medicine officially welcomed its newest cohort of medical professionals during the March 2026 White Coat Ceremony for the 2026 MD batch. Held at the University Library, the event marked the transition from academic study to clinical responsibility.
A Symbolic Transition to Medical Practice
Dr. Dheeraj Bansal, CAO & Dean of Texila American University, opened the ceremony with an inspiring address. He emphasized that the white coat is more than just a uniform; it is a symbol of trust, responsibility, and selfless service.

Honoring Academic Distinction
A core highlight of the ceremony was the recognition of academic excellence. Students who demonstrated mastery in their NBME subject examinations were honored with trophies and certificates. Awards were presented for top performance in:
- Foundational Sciences: Gross Anatomy, Embryology & Imaging, Histology & Cell Biology, and Genetics.
- Systems & Processes: Biochemistry, Neuroscience, Microbiology & Immunology, and Physiology.
- Clinical Foundations: Behavioral Science, Pathology (I & II), and Pharmacology (I & II).
The Pledge of Professionalism
The ceremony reached its emotional peak as students donned their white coats for the first time and signed the official register. This agreement represented a commitment to maintain the highest levels of professionalism, empathy, and ethical conduct.
The proceedings concluded with a collective recitation of the Hippocratic Oath, led by the student body, followed by a moving reflective address from student representative Ms. Kizza McLeod.
