I feel incredibly honored to introduce myself as an alumnus of Texila American University, Guyana (Texila). I completed my Doctor of Medicine degree from Texila’s College of Medicine in the year 2019.
Texila is the best Caribbean medical university that offersworld-class medical education with the US-based medical curriculum and advanced teaching methodologies. The Medical Council of Indiaalso recognizes the medical degree from Texila.
My parents named me after an ancient Indian physician, Sushruta, in thoughts of making me a physician. As a child, whenever someone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I answered with a rainbow of possibilities. The origins of my own desire to become a physician started when I was in high school. I loved to become a doctoras doctors seemed smart, responsible, and helpful. When I completed high school education, I was even more determined to become a doctorand joined Texila.
I was taught and trained by the most efficient faculty members in Texila, who were from different countries, and I’m forever grateful to them. I had the opportunity to do my clinical rotations in GPHC, the country’s largest hospital located in Georgetown. It was one of the best experiences of my life. As I shadowed various physicians from almost all specialties and interacted with both patients and other professional healthcare providers, I understood what medicine was all about.
My time in Texila and GPHC has enriched my life in many ways. It has provided me with the necessary tools to enhance my skills more, taught me valuable knowledge about this medical field and concepts in general, and eventually enabled me to become more well-rounded. With all the medical and clinical skills I learned at Texila, I could score 215 out of 300 in the Indian Licensure Examination effortlessly in my first attempt. I’m about to start my house surgency in India very soon.
I take pride in how far I’ve come, and I’m delighted to be called Dr.Susrusha Dhas. By providing outstanding education as well as an incredible environment that promotes self-growth, Texila has supported me and helped me get where I am now!
I thank and extend my sincere gratitude to the management and faculty of Texila. I wish Texila the best for all their endeavors.
