Texila American University College of Medicine (TAUCOM) is an accredited medical school in Georgetown, Guyana — an English-speaking country in South America — with administrative offices in Texas, USA. TAUCOM confers the Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree on its graduates and is designed specifically to prepare students from North America for residency and practice across the United States and Canada.
TAU is a Sallie Mae–approved institution. Our graduates are eligible to sit for the USMLE (United States) and MCC qualifying exams (Canada), and to apply for residency through the NRMP and CaRMS match processes.

For Students From Canada
TAU’s MD program is recognized by the Medical Council of Canada (MCC), and our graduates are eligible to sit for the MCCQE Part 1 and Part 2 and to apply for postgraduate training through the Canadian Resident Matching Service (CaRMS). The curriculum includes the same U.S.-based clinical rotations and licensing exam preparation available to all our North American students – giving Canadian graduates flexibility to pursue residency in Canada, the United States, or both.
Eligible Canadian students can receive OSAP-related guidance and explore other provincial loan programs, and benefit from tuition that is significantly lower than Canadian medical schools – a major advantage for Canadian applicants facing limited domestic seats and high costs at home.
