On July 19, 2022, at 1 PM, Texila American University successfully launched its’ GOAL (Guyana Online Academic Learning) Scholarship program and first orientation session via zoom. The session was attended by hundreds of students who were eager to learn about the various platforms that they will be used to complete their studies at Texila American University (TAU). Present at the session were the Chief Guest and Director of GOAL, Professor. Dr. Jacob Opadeyi, Honorable Chancellor and President of TAU, Mr. Saju Bhaskar, and Honorable Executive Vice President Mrs. Chitra Laskshmi also in attendance were Chief Executive Officer of TAU, Mr. Syam Kumar. Hosting the session was GOAL Project Manager, Mr. Kishore Kumar.
In his Presidential speech, Mr. Saju Bhaskar stated that Texila has combined its technological powers and enhanced virtual learning potential to emerge as the front runner in providing online learning programs by using its unique BRICCSS methodology which is a block-based system to provide online programs to match classroom learning. This methodology ensures that students are given personalized support from faculty. Mr. Saju Bhaskar also said that he is very happy to share that the online programs being offered at Texila have proven to be very valuable to work professionals and for those who wish to upgrade their educational qualifications.
In his opening speech, the CEO warmly welcome and thank the students for choosing Texila as their career partner. Mr. Syam Kumar encourages the students to also be in contact with faculty to ensure that they are given adequate assistance throughout their educational journey at TAU.
In his Speech, GOAL Director, Professor Jacob Opadeyi stated that he is pleased that the dream of collaborating with TAU has been made a reality and he is even more impressed with the number of students that chose TAU to complete their studies. Professor Jacob Opadeyi advised the students that they should make studying a priority to ensure that failure is not an option and that at the end of their studies, they will be using their degree to positively contribute to building a better Guyana.
The orientation session was deemed very productive by students who were provided with very detailed information about the different portals that they will be using while studying at TAU. The students were given precise information about the Tatva Desk portal and Learning Management System (LMS) portal which are the two main portals that they will be using while studying at TAU.
