Texila American University (TAU) Guyana is committed to making tau.edu.gy usable by as many people as possible, including people with disabilities.

1. Our Commitment

We aim to design and maintain our website so that it is accessible to visitors of all abilities, including those who use assistive technologies such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, voice recognition software or keyboard-only navigation.

2. Standards We Aim to Meet

We aim for tau.edu.gy to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities and more usable for everyone.

Conformance status. tau.edu.gy is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. This means that some parts of the website do not yet fully meet the standard. This assessment is based on a self-evaluation of key pages, last carried out in Sep 2026.

3. Accessibility Features

Where implemented, our website aims to provide:

Keyboard navigation
Core site functions can be accessed and operated using a keyboard alone.

Descriptive text alternatives
Meaningful images include alternative text for screen readers.

Readable structure
Pages use clear headings and a logical reading order.

Colour and contrast
Text and background colours are chosen with readability in mind.

Resizable text
Page content can be zoomed or resized using standard browser controls.

Consistent navigation
Menus and page layouts are designed to behave predictably across the site.

4. Known Limitations

Despite our efforts, some parts of tau.edu.gy may not yet be fully accessible. This can include older content, embedded third-party tools, or complex interactive elements. We are working to identify and address these limitations over time.

5. Third-Party Content

Our website may include content, forms or tools provided by third parties (for example, payment providers or embedded media). We encourage those providers to meet accessibility standards but cannot guarantee the accessibility of content we do not control.

6. Continuous Improvement

Digital accessibility is an ongoing effort. We last tested this website on 25 September 2026 using automated tools (Google Lighthouse) and manual keyboard-only checks on key pages. We review accessibility at least once a year and whenever we make major changes to the website, and we fix reported issues as part of our regular updates.

7. Feedback and Reporting Accessibility Issues

We will acknowledge your message within 2 working days and aim to respond in full within 10 working days. If a fix will take longer, we will tell you when to expect it and help you get the information or service another way in the meantime.
Alternative formats. If you need any information from this website in a different format, such as an accessible PDF, large print, plain text or an audio description, email [email protected] with the subject “Accessibility request”. We will provide it free of charge, usually within 10 working days.
If you are not satisfied. If you are unhappy with our response, reply to the same email and ask for your concern to be reviewed by a senior manager. We will respond within 15 working days.
