Dr. Dheeraj Bansal, a Dean at Texila American University, participated in a radio interview with Kaieteur Radio hosted by Ms. Sophia Dolphin on March 13, 2021. The interview was on the topic of COVID-19 vaccination.
In the interview, Dr. Dheeraj Bansal talked about the various aspects of the COVID-19 vaccine and its skepticism. He educated the listeners about how the numerous COVID-19 vaccines work and the different phases of testing the vaccine. He also enlightened the listeners on how tests for side effects, safety, and effectiveness are conducted before being released for use.
He proceeded to say how in some vaccines, the people will have to wait for a set period between the 1st dose and 2nd dose in cases of two-dose vaccines. He also added that people would have to wear a mask even after taking the 1st dose as it will take some time for the immune system to kick in.
Dr. Dheeraj Bansal also answered the listeners’ various questions, like if the vaccine is safe for kids, types of vaccine available, and more. He also ensured that authorities would clear no vaccine for use without proper testing to confirm if the vaccine is safe and effective.
The interview ended with a note on how in situations where the perfect solutions are not available, we will have to look for the best possible solution and how the COVID-19 vaccine is our best possible solution we have against the virus as we do not have a reliable treatment method available to treat the infected people.
