On January 26th, 2025, Texila American University, in collaboration with the High Commission of India, celebrated India’s 76th Republic Day at the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center. The event began with a flag hoisting ceremony followed by a special address from Dr. Amit Telang, High Commissioner of India. Students from various medical schools participated in cultural activities, including dance and singing competitions. Texila American University’s students excelled in the singing competition, with Ms. Merlin winning first place and Ms. Samiksha securing third. Additionally, a group dance performance by students Ms. Issa, Ms. Ananya, Ms. Gurleen, and Ms. Shalika, highlighting Indian culture, received high praise from the High Commission of India.
Later in the evening, the university attended the Republic Day reception at Hotel Pegasus, where speeches were delivered by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Guyana and the High Commissioner of India. The reception featured various cultural performances, including singing, dancing, yoga, and instrumental music, and concluded with refreshments. The day’s events offered a memorable celebration of India’s Republic Day, showcasing both cultural unity and student talent.
