On October 24, 2025, Texila American University (TAU) proudly celebrated its 17th Graduation Ceremony at the Ramada Princess Hotel, Guyana, honoring the remarkable achievements of graduates from the College of Medicine and the College of Business Management. The event brought together students, faculty, families, and distinguished guests to recognize the hard work, perseverance, and dedication of the graduating class of 2025.
The ceremony commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. Hugh Duckworth, Provost of TAU, followed by a special address from Dr. Dheeraj Bansal, Chief Academic Officer and Dean of the College of Medicine. The university was honored to have Dr. Jacob Opadeyi, Director of the Guyana Online Academy of Learning, as the Chief Guest. His remarkable contributions to education and public service across the region lent great significance to the occasion.
Also in attendance were esteemed members of the university’s leadership, including Dr. Ivory English, Member of the Board of Trustees; Mr. Syam Kumar, Chief Executive Officer; Honorable Chancellor Mr. Saju Bhaskar, and Honorable Pro-Chancellor Mrs. Chitra Lakshmi, who joined the celebration virtually.
The ceremony featured the formal recognition of graduates, with 38 students from the College of Medicine honored for their academic excellence and commitment to service. Equipped with rigorous training, knowledge, and compassion, these future healthcare professionals are well prepared to make a meaningful impact in the global medical community.
The College of Business Management & Public Health also celebrated the success of 12 outstanding graduates, ready to lead with innovation, integrity, and strategic insight in today’s dynamic business environment.
A highlight of the event was the keynote address delivered by Dr. Jacob Opadeyi, who spoke on the transformative power of education and the enduring values of integrity, compassion, and service. His inspiring message urged graduates to pursue purposeful careers and make a lasting difference in their communities.
Special awards were presented to students who demonstrated academic excellence, leadership, and community engagement. The “Outstanding Graduate” awards recognized individuals who made significant contributions to both their fields of study and the university community.
