Why is Community Outreach Essential for Medical Education and Public Health?
- Texila American University (TAU) brought essential healthcare directly to the people of Betsy Ground Village, East Canje Berbice, in a highly successful medical outreach event held Saturday, August 30, 2025
- The initiative, a core part of Texila’s community commitment, provided crucial services to an underserved population. A dedicated team of our healthcare professionals and students delivered free medical consultations and screenings.
- Residents received vital check-ups, including blood pressure and diabetes screenings, along with practical nutritional counseling and access to essential medications. Over 50 residents from Betsy Ground and surrounding communities benefited from the event.

“This is about more than just a single event; it’s about building a healthier future for these communities,” a Texila spokesperson stated.
Our goal is to ensure that quality healthcare isn’t a luxury, but a reality for everyone, no matter how remote their location.
The outreach event highlights TAU’s ongoing mission to improve healthcare access and promote preventive health practices across Guyana, reinforcing its role as a leader in both education and community service
