Georgetown, Guyana – April 19, 2024 – TAU Guyana proudly announced the successful conclusion of its 14th Graduation Ceremony, which took place on Friday, April 19, 2024, at the esteemed Hotel Marriott in Georgetown, Guyana. The event commenced at 5 p.m. and was a momentous occasion that celebrated the academic achievements of a diverse cohort of students.
The distinguished presence of the Honorable Prime Minister, Brigadier (Rtrd.)Mark Phillips, served as the highlight of the ceremony. He graciously consented to serve as the Chief Guest for the event and delivered an inspiring convocation address, emphasizing the importance of education and the contributions of graduates to society.
Chancellor Mr Saju Bhaskar and Pro chancellor Mrs Chitra Lakshmi extended their heartfelt congratulations to all the graduates on their remarkable academic achievements. Provost Dr. Hugh Duckworth delivered a warm welcome address, setting the tone for the ceremony.
During the ceremony, significant milestones were marked by esteemed members of the TAU community:
Dean Dr. Bansal administered the Hippocratic Oath, reaffirming the graduates’ commitment to ethical medical practice.
Dr. Seeta Shaw, Chair of the Board of Trustees, administered the Graduation Oath, emphasizing the graduates’ responsibility to serve their communities with integrity and compassion.
Dr. Ivor English, Member of the Board of Trustees and Registrar TAU, Dr Ajay Rajput, signed the scroll, symbolizing the official recognition of the graduates’ accomplishments.
The Chief Executive Officer, Mr Syam Kumar delivered closing remarks, expressing pride in the graduates’ achievements and offering words of encouragement for their future endeavors.
A total of 100 accomplished students from various corners of the globe, including India, Jamaica, Guyana, South Africa, the USA, and Nigeria, were conferred degrees across multiple disciplines, including medicine, nursing, and public health. These graduates had demonstrated exceptional dedication and perseverance in completing all the rigorous requirements of their respective courses.
