Ms. Ederle Kimberly Stephen hailing from the Co-operative Republic of Guyana, and notably a third-year medical student at Texila American University, has been declared the Miss Caricom 2020 Online winner.
Ms. Kimberly competed and aced in several events such as introduction, talent, evening wear, and intelligence segments conducted via Zoom to secure the podium among nine other contestants across various Caribbean countries.
At just 21 years old, Ms. Kimberly is described as a driven, loving, and caring individual who is genuinely passionate about helping others, which one can assume arguably led her down the career path as an aspiring doctor.
Beyond studies, Ms. Kimberly was also highly interested in athletics, particularly in the triple and high jump. She is also a national athlete at Guyana’s National Inter-Regions Swimming, Cycling, and Track & Field competition for seven progressive years, where she medaled in all competitions each year.
In her time off, she passionately advocates for women’s empowerment and intends to motivate young teenage women during her one-year reign as Miss Caricom 2020. She desires to see more women in positions of power and hope to witness a woman as Guyana’s president next year.
Upon questioning her source for inspiration, she notes that she draws from accomplished creative minds for her inspiration on difficult days. She also believes that the current COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the creative industry and extends her appreciation to innovative platforms such as the Miss Caricom pageant for rekindling the hope in the hearts of creative minds by allowing them to convey themselves virtually.
Texila American University is proud to have such a talented, driven, and compassionate student, and we wish Ms. Ederle Kimberly all the very best with her future endeavors.
A medical student, an athlete, and now Miss Caricom2020, Ms. Ederle Kimberly, you are really talented and women’s pride. Your hard work, perseverance, and good heart will bring you more laurels in your medical career. Hearty wishes from Texila American University and family!
