The 6th Texila International Conference on “Artificial Intelligence in Medicine” took place at Texila American University’s campus in Providence, EBD, Guyana, on November 20-21, 2025. This prominent event brought together healthcare professionals, researchers, and policymakers to discuss the transformative impact of artificial intelligence across healthcare domains, including diagnosis, medical education, research, and operational management.
The conference commenced with an inaugural address by Hon. Mr. Saju Bhaskar, Founder and Chancellor of Texila American University, who emphasized the university’s commitment to academic excellence and pioneering collaboration in AI-driven healthcare innovation. Dr. Dheeraj Bansal, Chief Academic Officer and Dean of Texila American University College of Medicine, delivered the welcome address, highlighting AI’s expanding role in medicine, research, and medical education.
The Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Narine Singh, delivered the keynote inaugural speech, focusing on the transformative potential of AI in Guyana’s healthcare system and government initiatives aimed at integrating AI to enhance patient care, particularly in remote regions. This milestone was further underscored by the launch of the TAU GPT AI tool by the TAU Founder and Chancellor, signifying a major step in advancing AI-enabled healthcare solutions.
Participants engaged in poster presentations showcasing innovative AI applications in healthcare, education, and research. The afternoon sessions focused on “The Role of AI in Patient Care: Diagnosis and Management,” featuring keynote presentations by Dr. Balu P S (Director – Center for AI Research and E- Health, Subbaiah Institute of Medical Sciences, India), Dr. Mahendra A. Carpen (Interventional Cardiologist and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiologist, Caribbean Heart Institute, Guyana), and Ms. Kamini Persaud, CEO of Salus Medical Guyana. These experts shared valuable insights into AI integration in community health, cardiology, and healthcare service delivery. The day concluded with a dynamic panel discussion moderated by Dr. Dheeraj Bansal and included contributions from Dr. Sheik Amir, Dr. Rishiram Dubraj, and Dr. Shamdeo Persaud.
Day two began with sessions on “AI in Medical Education and Research,” featuring Dr. Sharon Baisil (Assistant Medical Superintendent, MOSC Medical College, India) and Mr. Sasank Chilamkurthy, Founder and CEO of JOHNAIC, who explored AI’s transformative influence on teaching methodologies, research innovations, and bioinformatics. Mrs. Thulaja Naidu presented the conference’s best research paper, followed by a panel discussion moderated by Dr. Dheeraj Bansal with panelists Dr. Shamdeo Persaud, Dr. Jagan Nadipelly, and Dr. Cheman Ramdharry.
Another series of poster presentations took place before the afternoon session, which focused on “AI in Operations and Data Management.” Keynote speakers Dr. Corey A. Hancock (Icahn School of Medicine, USA) and Mr. Kevin Ramroop (Director of Technology, Georgetown International Academy, Guyana) addressed advances in data analytics and operational efficiencies driven by AI. The conference concluded with an awards ceremony recognizing outstanding paper presentations and research achievements.
