ABOUT TAUCOM CONFERENCE

Texila American University College of Medicine, Guyana, hosted its inaugural International Conference in 2018 at the University Campus in Providence. The event, themed “Enriching Caribbean Medical Education through Research,” brought together regional and international delegates, practicing physicians, students, and medical professionals. Over two days, it aimed to expand students’ knowledge and enhance their understanding of globally accepted medical concepts and practices.

The Second Conference took place in 2019, focusing on “Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) in the Caribbean Region: Current Scenario and Future Perspectives.” This gathering united international healthcare providers, educators, and researchers dedicated to improving healthcare services and overall wellbeing across populations.

In 2021, the University hosted its 3rd International Conference on “Non-Communicable Diseases in the Caribbean Region: Mental Health and Road Traffic Accidents – Current Scenario and Future Perspectives.” The 4th Conference followed in 2023 with the theme “Communicable Diseases in the Caribbean: Regional Update and Recent Advances,” concentrating on major diseases like Malaria, Dengue, Filariasis, Tuberculosis, and HIV. Experts from Guyana, the Caribbean, UK, USA, Canada, and India shared insights and public health strategies to combat these challenges.

The 5th International Conference, held on November 28-29, 2024, addressed “The Obesity Pandemic – Consequences and Possible Solutions.” This two-day event gathered healthcare professionals, researchers, and policymakers to discuss obesity’s global impact and explore effective interventions through keynote speeches, panel discussions, and poster presentations, fostering expert collaboration.

Continuing this legacy, Texila American University is proud to announce the 6th International Conference, themed “Artificial Intelligence in Medicine,” which will explore the impact and opportunities of AI in transforming healthcare within the Caribbean region.
